According to the CDC, Lyme Disease impact an additional 340,000 newly diagnosed patients in the United States Yearly. 

Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection (or combination of infections) that cause severe neurological symptoms including psychiatric manifestations such as: 

  • Panic and Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Hallucinations
  • Eating Disorders
  • Dementia
  • Suicidal and Homicidal Ideations
  • Personality Changes
  • Derealization/Depersonalization
  • Brain Fog

Lyme Disease is often described by survivors as "one nobody can understand unless they have it." It is a complex, painful and at times "invisible illness that ruins one's sense of autonomy, identity, relationships, careers, spiritual health and emotional wellbeing.  

Lyme disease is found in every state in the United States with 50% or fewer patients recalling being bitten by a tick or having a bull's eye rash. 

There is a 50-70% chance an individual is falsely test NEGATIVE on their Lyme disease blood test (Western Blot & ELISA). 

Many individuals with Lyme disease were previously diagnosed with things like Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS or other neurodegenerative diseases. 

Many individuals diagnosed with Lyme Disease suffer from lifelong health complications.

The Lyme Literate Certified Practitioner™ course is designed by Ruschelle Khanna, LCSW to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of the Chronic Lyme Community. This course includes a wide array of information and skills to help mental health professionals develop a basis of knowledge, skills and resources to assist clients wherever they are in recovery or illness or remission.

This is an intermediate-level certification and is open to any mental health clinician, professional or volunteer. By becoming a Lyme Literate Certified Clinician you will be able to competently educate clients about Lyme, identify psychiatric medical needs out of your scope, confidently work with Lyme Literate Medical Doctors and provide the full spectrum of emotional support your clients need ranging from individual to family and group formats.  You will also confidently .

The course is offered in a distance-learning format using multiple delivery techniques through and online platform. Participants will be asked to watch a series of 15, hour-long training modules.
